10 Dumbest Decisions Made By Seemingly Intelligent Wrestlers
3. CM Punk Gets Complacent Against The Deadman
CM Punk looked to be playing an absolute blinder in the lead up to WrestleMania 29.
He'd successfully managed to get inside the head of The Undertaker through some seriously devilish acts, including obtaining 'The Deadman's precious urn and disrespecting the name of the recently deceased Paul Bearer. This all led to 'The Phenom' acting out of desperation and lashing out at Punk whenever he got the chance, which played right into the hands of the calculated 'Voice of the Voiceless.'
That was until the two met on the Grandest Stage.
Sensing he had 'Taker right where he wanted him on the night, Punk proceeded to get a little carried away with his mental advantage and began to mock the legend by performing some of his own signature moves.
One Old School was delivered to perfection, yet when he arrogantly opted to attempt to deliver it another time the cracks in his plan began to show. Despite using the urn to regularly try and distract/knock off the icon, 'Taker fought back and Punk's once glorious situation started to wane.
In taking too long to deliver his trademark Go-To-Sleep - post-cheap shot from the urn - Punk allowed 'Taker to launch a late comeback. After a few reversals, 'The Deadman' forced Punk to rest in peace and took back his symbolic urn.
Punk had been in pole position to end the streak for the duration of their dramatic feud, but his cockiness on the night cost him a legendary win.
