10 Dumbest Match Finishes In Modern Wrestling History

1. Roman Reigns & Cedric Alexander Vs. Drew McIntyre & Shane McMahon - WWE Raw, July 8, 2019

Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre hatched a cunning plan on the July 8, 2019 Raw.

After ordering Roman Reigns to face them in a tag team match against an opponent of their choosing, they scouted the backstage area to locate the nearest decrepit non-athlete before settling on a janitor, who arrived to the ring, looking suspiciously athletic, as Gary 'The GOAT' Garbutt. It was Cedric Alexander under a mask, he lost, and afterwards, he took it off to reveal an expression that read "I got you guys good!"

Except he didn't get those guy good. Those guys Claymored his head off his shoulders en route to victory. This was the expression on Shane McMahon's face:

He was giving it the Gargano in a profound state of shock, as if he could not believe his eyes at the sight of a...

...glorified jobber his team defeated handily after a brief comeback. If he'd lost, that reaction would have been merited. If the actual janitor turned out to be a great wrestler, that reaction would have been merited. He won the match. By 2019, wins and losses didn't merely not matter. A win was a loss and a loss was a win in a swerve not even Vince Russo was dumb enough to book.

Not only was this the dumbest finish in all of creation, WWE actually beat Roman Reigns with it. Roman Reigns!

The most biased 'Vincel' imaginable - think of those bad faith troll accounts on Twitter, like WWE on Fox - might still justify this by stating that the heel unit needed "heat" to build interest in their upcoming match against the Graveyard Dogs at Extreme Rules.

Except Cedric defeated Drew in a singles match a week later.

So it was even worse in retrospect!
