10 Dumbest WWE Title Changes
4. Hulk Hogan Beats Triple H (Backlash 2002)
With all due respect to the Hulkster, he really had no business winning WWE's biggest prize in 2002. He was pushing 50, for one thing, but that's not even the issue here - it's the fact that the roster, having recently merged with WCW and ECW's brightest and best, was over-flowing with stars, many of whom were slap bang in the middle of their peak years.
It seemed rushed too, since Triple H - who won the Undisputed Championship the previous month at WrestleMania X8 - clearly still had some unfinished business with Chris Jericho, a feud that really ought to have been contested for the title, not merely Stephanie's affections.
What seems to have happened here is that Vince McMahon grew nostalgic for the good old days after witnessing the mega-reaction the Toronto crowd gave Hogan during his Icon vs. Icon match with The Rock, and reasoned that there may come no better time to rekindle some of that Golden Age magic.
But clearly his man was in no physical condition to handle being the company's franchise player again, proven by the fact he dropped the belt a month later to Undertaker.
