10 Early WWE SummerSlam 2018 Predictions
9. AJ Styles Vs. Samoa Joe
When Samoa Joe interrupted AJ Styles on SmackDown right before Backlash, it felt like a watershed moment for fans who had followed their careers in ROH, TNA and beyond. Who could have imagined that, in 2018, WWE would be setting the table for a one-on-one Joe vs. Styles match and treating it like a big deal?
Assuming AJ drops the WWE Title to Nakamura at Money In The Bank, he'll need a program to see him through the summer months. That'd be the best time to drag up that show-halting promo from Joe and pair them off.
If AJ does drop the strap to Nakamura, typical WWE booking will mean a mandatory rematch at Extreme Rules. Once that's out of the way, it can be all guns blazing on a TNA redo nobody ever thought they'd see at such a high level in McMahon land.
Joe vs. AJ is the kind of hot opener SummerSlam needs. Give these guys 15-20 minutes, take the shackles off them verbally during the build and they'll tear the house down. On that note, seeing Joe attempt to burn the "house that AJ Styles built" would be huge.
