6. Shawn Michaels Loses His Smile

Watch back to the 'Lost Smile' segment with Shawn Michaels and it's almost possible to see even HBK knew he was full of it. A supposed knee injury had "robbed" Michaels of the WWF Title, although in reality it was getting him out of doing the job to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. He knew it, Hart knew it, Vince McMahon in the ring knew it, the fans knew it.

One of the most disingenuous moments in WWE history, Shawn's crocodile tears were so phoney it wouldn't be a surprise to learn he was crying out of sheer awkwardness. A handful of crying women in the crowd couldn't cover up the fact fans were being robbed of a rematch between Michaels and Hart on the biggest show of the year.

That, combined with Shawn's hammy performance (this was not one of HBK's finest hours), left the segment feeling like a miss. Still, at least we got that epic Fatal-4-Way match at In Your House soon after, and Bret got to face Steve Austin in one of 'Mania's best bouts instead of rehashing things with Michaels.
