5. Wade Barrett's Literal Burial

Wade Barrett Burial TLC 2010
WWE Network

Wade Barrett should be main eventing WWE pay-per-views in 2017, but has instead removed himself from the wrestling business entirely. It's a huge shame, as he looked like a genuine megastar after debuting with The Nexus, but like so many before him, the Englishman had his push obliterated by John Cena.

The Nexus ruled the wrestling world in summer 2010, but Cena almost single-handedly destroyed them at SummerSlam. Their momentum was crushed, but Barrett kept his rivalry with 'The Face That Runs The Place' going, and their decisive match came at TLC 2010.

His stable had already gone off the rails, but WWE could've salvaged Barrett as a potential main eventer with a big win over their top star. Instead, they had him lose in the most depressing way imaginable. Cena nonchalantly pinned Wade following an Attitude Adjustment onto a set of chairs, before stalking him up the ramp, placing him under a piece of the stage, then literally burying him beneath a pile of seats.

That was the end for Barrett. He stayed with the company for five-and-a-half more years, bouncing from one midcard feud to another, but never looked like a pushable commodity again. Thanks, Cena...
