Triple H books a WWE TakeOver, but this time it's of an entire city!
There had been more than a few dissenting voices about the realistic size and scale of WWE Clash At The Castle when the show was first announced.
Though the Principality Stadium's mammoth capacity was destined to be (mostly - more on that later) full and Cardiff was sure to be the centre of the wrestling universe for at least a day, there was a sinking feeling amongst much of the commentariat that this was going to be nothing more than the flashiest house show in company history.
This, categorically, was not the case.
In person and in the guts of a bustling city centre, all discussions compared the experience to that of a WrestleMania. WWE's product might not always reflect that of the market leader, but the brand remains the undisputed king of this business. Vince McMahon was always more of a marketeer than a wrestling promoter, and there was a hilarious irony to him resigning in disgrace just before he could come and see his latest work blasted onto the side of a castle.
The show had a card with consequences and quality, but there's lots of excellent content on what was available on the WWE Network. As for the sights and sounds beyond the show...

Greeting all arrivals at Cardiff Central train station, prints of the roster featured everywhere, including on ticket gates. This meant that - like Roman Reigns on the show itself - fans too could effortlessly run through Drew McIntyre!
