10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign
5. Colt Cabana
So you didn’t get to sign CM Punk and turns out he wants to go back to WWE? Well then, feel free to give this man a call.
With The Art Of Wrestling being announced as “coming to an end” by Colt recently, it could be time for him to start on other projects. This came shortly after dropping the NWA Heavyweight Championship to James Storm back in June.
The nice thing about Colt is that if AEW does sign him, he doesn’t just serve as a member of the roster. He has shown an excellent ability to run things in the announce booth, and could very well replace someone (Alex Marvez, perhaps?) or just guest commentate on a frequent basis. That is a great incentive for AEW, which has struggled with production issues and (in some people’s minds) lack of established names.
And if they really are going to sign (or have signed) CM Punk, this would work as a great swerve to get people thinking that they aren’t going to sign him. He won’t want to work with Colt Cabana after the lawsuit right? No way they could reconcile now after all of that mess.
Well, remember: Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart both returned to WWE. And they hated the man running the company, not just one of the wrestlers. So you can truly never say never in the world of wrestling.
