10 Famous WWE Love Stories That Didn’t Survive The Wrestling Business

5. Marc Mero & Sable

Wrestling mythology suggests that Rena 'Sable' Mero merely accompanied her husband Marc to his meeting with Vince McMahon that ultimately got them both signed in 1996. Allegedly more gooey for wife than husband, McMahon immediately saw millions in the future Playboy covergirl and thus offered thousands to the 'Wildman' as a result.

Though his motivation almost certainly sat somewhere between shrewd and sexual, McMahon's business instincts about the couple were exactly half right. A passable babyface pairing at first, Sable exploded into the stratosphere following Mero's late-1997 heel turn as an abusive a*sehole towards her.

Second at times only to Stone Cold Steve Austin in terms of fan response during the company's 1998 explosion back into the mainstream, Sable was for a short time the company's most glamorous star. Her acrimonious 1999 exit came just months removed from Marc's own departure, but the two would share solidarity for much longer. Splitting apart in 2003 as both faded from the glare of the business (before a brief unexpected return to the company by Sable that same year), their amicable divorce was finalised in 2004 ahead of her dating and eventually marrying Brock Lesnar.
