10 Famous WWE Love Stories That Didn’t Survive The Wrestling Business

4. Big Cass & Carmella

SmackDown Live!'s Superstar Shake-up was a big night for Big Cass, redebuting on the blue brand following a period of enormous change for just about every other character he's been associated with in his WWE career. Cass was crocked after a woeful clash with The Big Show at SummerSlam with the timing arguably ideal to allow audiences time to forget about that absolute disaster. But much changed in his absence.

Big Show has barely been seen since, unofficially shelved after a loss to Braun Strowman. Longstanding partner Enzo Amore was turned heel and eventually fired following a controversy-laden quarter as a singles star. Former valet Carmella held on to - and eventually cashed in - her Money In The Bank briefcase to dethrone Charlotte two days removed from arguably the biggest victory of his career. Cass' own return as Daniel Bryan's first singles opponent has to be viewed as an equally enormous opportunity for the seven-footer.

A happy ending for both then, right? Wrong.

The pair were an item long before their separate 2016 WWE call-ups, with the company's hacking of their pairing rendering their a relationship a virtual impossibility. Cass went on the road for Raw whilst Carmella remained on NXT. She ended up on SmackDown Live!, widening the chasm to the point where the coupling became untenable. It took roster instability to bring them back together in 2018, but by they were sadly already apart.
