1. D-Generation X vs. Legacy (Hell In A Cell 2009)
Great Odin's raven, two AEW vs. WWE matches on one list? This is like Christmas!
Seriously however, it is a pretty tidy time to bring this Hell In A Cell bout up considering Cody's throne-smashing antics at Double Or Nothing last month. A decade ago, things were rather different. The young Rhodes was looking upwards at Triple H and his DX tag partner Shawn Michaels, and he was doing so with Ted DiBiase Jr. How times change.
At HIAC '09, the Legacy boys were charged with showing they could hang at a top-tier level against two crafty veterans. If this was a test, they stormed into the exam hall, answered everything with ease, ripped up the paper and spat in the invigilator's face. Cody and Ted looked like a million bucks for 18 saliva-inducing minutes.
It shouldn't be forgotten that both tag-teams were working the third Cell match on the show either. Undeterred by WWE's (frankly stupid) dilution of such a popular gimmick, Legacy and DX sprinted through their night's work and sent everyone home happy. The Cody vs. Trips stuff is really why you need to see it though.
