10 Former WWE Stars Who Should Return In 2018

Time to dust off the ol' boots...

Professional wrestling, just like any other sport, loves a comeback story, and with Ethan Carter III re-emerging in WWE at TakeOver: Philadelphia, Bobby Lashley reportedly set to follow, and swathes of old faces appearing at the Royal Rumble, 2018 is already delivering them in droves.

Big returns create memorable moments and eardrum bursting pops. WWE recognise this, and their fondness for nostalgia means they're constantly looking to deliver them, but while the company have already burned through countless major comebacks over the past few years, there are still plenty left on the table.

Certain restrictions hinder even the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet, though. WWE can't just pluck a Cody Rhodes from Ring Of Honor, as he's under a full-time contract, and that must be respected. The same goes for former developmental castoff Kenny Omega, who is legally bound to New Japan Pro Wrestling for the foreseeable future.

Regardless, while many of the returns within would be tricky to pull off, each would benefit the promotion and the wrestler in a number of different ways, regardless of whether they landed within NXT's ranks, or back on the main roster...

10. Damien Sandow

'The Intellectual Savior Of The Masses' has accomplished next to nothing since leaving WWE in 2016, with his career quickly fizzing out after a short, ineffective run in Impact Wrestling.

The former Damien Sandow hasn't wrestled since January 2017, and is currently occupied by projects away from the squared circle. Still, he never had a fair shake of the stick in WWE, and if he's going to come out of semi-retirement for anything, it'd likely be another run with the world's biggest promotion (provided they promised not to bury him... again).

WWE's lacking midcard scene could do with a few more bold, colourful characters of Sandow's ilk. Though never an in-ring phenom, he was more than good enough to hold his own against anyone on the roster, and was always incredibly charismatic. The 'Savior' gimmick was awesome, and Mizdow got over huge, too. His failings were the company's fault, not his own, as the bookers clipped his wings before his final babyface run could ever take off, destroying him with the Macho Mandow gimmick.

Now 35, Sandow would be a solid SmackDown gatekeeper, putting younger talent over en route to the top.
