Disaster: Depending on who you choose to believe (there are varying stories from various sources about this), one thing's true: Jeff Jarrett, whether he held Vinnie Mac up for money at No Mercy 1999 or not, was in the WWF bad books shortly thereafter.

Seeking refuge in WCW, Jarrett must've uttered a quick, "Aw crap" when that promotion bit the dust in 2001 and McMahon had control of his destiny once more. He was one of the stars Vince named to rub salt into the wounds of those who had wronged him after purchasing his own competition.

How He Recovered: Knowing he couldn't return to the WWF any time soon, Jarrett got his thinking cap on, channelled some entrepreneurial spirit and created his own company. TNA was born, and the organisation's X Division would go on to become a template for pro wrestling's future.

Dynamos like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and more all cut their teeth in a promotion Jeff had come up with. McMahon's frostiness, as it often does, towards working with Jarrett thawed over the years too, meaning Jarrett could point to TNA as evidence that he deserved another chance.
