10 Genius Ways WWE Stars Recovered From Absolute Disaster

Disaster: More Papa Shango than The Undertaker and less Mankind than he was Damien Demento, Bray Wyatt was in quite the career quandary by 2015. The aura he previously possessed was chipped away to reveal a joke horror character who couldn't back up his bold words.

This tepid staleness continued through to 2018. Last year, Bray's only notable spot was in a borderline-comedic weirdo tag-team with fellow straggler Matt Hardy. Things did not look good for the guy at all.

How He Recovered: Entire articles have been written about Bray's smarts.

Back in 2015, when all seemed lost, he began sowing the seeds for a future WWE didn't even know anything about yet. By weaving his own backstory and telling chilling tales of fanciful characters (one of whom became the basis for 'The Fiend'), Wyatt was securing his own fate.

There's a fair chance Bray knew he was an afterthought when he was doing this, and that only makes his decision to lace promos with lore all the more impressive. Today, Bray's 'Fiend' is one of wrestling's most marketable figures.
