10 Great Wrestlers That Suffered Burials

6. Rusev

The obvious question here is which one?

WWE have pulled the plug on the Bulgarian Brute so many times now it feels like a strange joke that neither we the audience nor Rusev himself are in on.

Transformed into a Vladimir Putin fanatic in 2014, Rusev enjoyed a lengthy undefeated streak until he fell foul of John Cena, losing to him three pay per views in a row in 2015. From there he was demoted to a disastrous love triangle angle with wife Lana and Dolph Ziggler. Rusev was frequently the butt of the joke and eater of the pinfall throughout the rest of the year. A reboot in 2016 restored him to his initial anti-American character before being completely pulverised by Roman Reigns sent him back to jobberville.

As a tweener, Rusev became a fan favourite in 2017 thanks to his Rusev Day catchphrase and humorous partnership with Aiden English. WWE did little to take advantage of the popularity surrounding the two and instead killed their partnership in a nonsensical minifeud that never even made it to a pay per view blow off.

Last year, Rusev restored his fan favourite status during his ridiculous feud with Bobby Lashley and Lana (WWE sure like splitting these two up). WWE’s response was to have him lose every step of the way before leaving TV altogether this year.

Rough going for a guy who keeps getting over but hey, I hear AEW are looking for more big hoss additions to the roster...
