It's amazing that more in-ring accidents don't happen.

Wrestling matches are tightly-controlled exhibitions of sheer athletic prowess, yes, but they're also incredibly dangerous to boot. Without the skills of those involved, they'd be sloppy, uncoordinated affairs and people would get seriously hurt way more than they do.

As much as the industry has evolved athletically over the years, one thing has never changed. Wrestlers still need some ability to work on the fly and adapt when faced with unscripted situations. They only get one take, and the chance of embarrassment is high in front of thousands in arenas and millions more watching at home on TV. If workers can't 'call it out there', then they risk being exposed as limited.

In wrestling's unique symbiosis between performer and fan, everyone seems to find it impressive when wrestlers manage to overcome potential disaster. It's even more extraordinary when these real-life stuntmen and women refuse to settle for mediocrity and instead strive to make their match even greater than it would've been without on the fly spot calling.

These guys made it up as they went along, and they deserve to be applauded for doing so...
