Randy Orton might be John Cena's most famous rival, but we all know who his best one was.

At New Year's Revolution 2006, Edge cashed in the first-ever Money in the Bank briefcase to beat John Cena for the WWE Championship.

This was in January. WrestleMania 22 was just a few months away. Surely Cena would get his rematch at The Showcase of the Immortals.

Nope. He won the title back three weeks later at the Royal Rumble. Cena would fight Triple H at 'Mania, while Edge had his legendary match with Mick Foley.

It would take another three years for them to finally get their big match, when Edge was the defending World Heavyweight Champion going up against Cena at WrestleMania 25. Alas, this bromance was crashed by the Big Show, who was also in the match. Cena famously lifted both men on his shoulders at the same time before pinning the giant to win the Big Gold Belt.

Cena and Edge had one of the best rivalries of 2006, one that absolutely should have culminated in a WrestleMania match. Once again, though, Triple H needed something to do. You know the rules.
