10 Greatest Debuts In Modern Wrestling History

8. Penta

AEW Rampage The First Dance CM Punk
WWE

Because both men were anything but quiet about it, it was common knowledge among the wrestling community that Penta and Rey Fenix were seeking to join WWE as soon as their AEW deals ran out. When Tony Khan decided to add a big chunk of time to Fenix's contract (due to the amount of time he'd missed through injury), it felt as though the magnanimity of their WWE arrival was going to be compromised in a big way.

Having spent most of their excellent AEW run as the Lucha Bros, when vignettes began to air about Penta's arrival in WWE, it wasn't the most highly anticipated of occasions. However, with WWE on a great run of form after the first full year being free from Vince McMahon's creative lunacy, Penta was given the kind of glow-up usually reserved for reality TV makeover shows.

Penta's new presentation was out of this world, with his Catherine wheel pyrotechnics being instantly mesmerizing. The 'Penta walk' to the ring became instantly iconic, and being put in the ring with the ever-reliable Chad Gable as part of the company's first night on Netflix, Penta seized the moment and made himself a global star from his very first night in a WWE ring.
