Ask any casual wrestling fan what they remember most about Brian Pillman, and they're sure to give one of two responses: 1) his work alongside Steve Austin as one of The Hollywood Blondes, or 2) his work alongside Steve Austin in the "Pillman's Got a Gun" storyline.

Rarely is he given credit for his dynamic early singles work.

Not only did Flyin' Brian Pillman have a classic series of matches with at least three other superstars on this list, he did so while being one of the very first American wrestlers to use elements of the lucha libre in his move set.

Before Pillman's work in WCW, most American fans had never seen someone execute a springboard clothesline off the top rope. They weren't used to someone leaping off the turnbuckle to perform a dropkick.

Though Pillman certainly didn't invent any of these moves, he deserves credit for working them into his matches at a time when no one else was trying anything like that.

By the time Pillman made the jump to WWE, however, his skill set was limited due to the after effects of a car accident. And so he had to rely more heavily on his personality than his flawless Tornado DDTs.
