10 Greatest Ultimate Opportunists In WWE History

2. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan capitalized on interest from Hollywood to star in Rocky III, giving up a position as a high-profile heel for Vincent J. McMahon's WWWF in the process. Years later, he seized the opportunity to return to New York and work under Vincent K. McMahon by leaving behind an AWA run by Verne Gagne that seemed hellbent on keeping him from that promotion's world championship.

Under the younger McMahon, Hogan became the biggest star in the industry and a pop culture phenomenon. He made more money than he ever could have imagined, headlined seven of the first eight WrestleManias, and was a household name.

When it became apparent that Vince was looking forward, focusing on younger talent as the 1990s marched on, Hogan jumped at the opportunity to head to WCW for a small fortune. Not only was he offered tremendous monetary concessions, he was also given creative control and the ability to veto any loss he did not feel like incurring.

The jump to Ted Turner's company prolonged Hogan's career another ten years or so, feeding his ego and at the same time, fueling the most storied 83-week a**-kicking in Monday night ratings history.
