1. Bobby Heenan

The absolute master of pro wrestling managers, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan is one of the smartest characters in industry history. Far from being a marketing tool for his persona, Heenan was actually clever beyond belief, knowing exactly when to appear full of bluster and when to slink back into the shadows like a complete coward.

Another who wrestled before taking residence mainly at ringside, 'The Brain' worked with the likes of Ric Flair, Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect. Before then, he had also represented Andre The Giant and managed both Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens in the AWA.

Absolutely everybody who worked with Heenan on screen looked better as a result, he was that good. Flair once said that Bobby could have been a top heel in the WWF had he wished to wrestle more, but he was content as a manager and behind the commentary desk.

There, he forged a quite brilliant partnership with Gorilla Monsoon, one full of witticisms and tremendous banter. There will never be another Bobby Heenan, he will always be the greatest wrestling manager of all time.
