Everyone remembers Vince’s street fight with Shane at X-Seven, but the real heads know his match with Hulk Hogan under similar rules two years hence was better still. Built on the history-warping premise that Hogan attempted to bring down WWE during the infamous steroid trials, this was two old, weird men going above and beyond to entertain a crowd.

This was never going to be conventionally pretty match, but the willingness of the two industry legends to take a beating is somehow genuinely admirable. They exchange chair shots, both get busted open, and the crowd hangs on their every ludicrous move.

McMahon books himself unusually strongly here, going toe to toe with the Hulkster in the test of strength and successfully lobbing the big man around the ring. We even get a hilarious run in from Roddy Piper, who struggles to decide which man he hates the most, before busting Hogan with a pipe and legging it.

The match ends with the usual Hulk up routine (the crowd’s “you!” on the finger point is one for the ages) and the tried and tested leg drop to finish it off. It’s two rich old men taking 20 minutes out of their day to give you a laugh, and it’s glorious.
