Hulk Hogan shocked the entire wrestling world at the end of Bash at the Beach 1996 as he joined the New World Order, but for the wrestling connoisseurs out there, Rey Mysterio vs. Psicosis (spelled Psychosis that night) also comes to mind when talking about that pay-per-view.

Eric Bischoff had not only done a great job of building intrigue to the mysterious third man, but he was also building a fantastic undercard with elite talent from around the world like the Mexican luchadors. In a smart move, he booked the longtime opponents from south of the border (despite Rey being only 21) to open the show.

The two hit each other with moves that only Mike Tenay knew the names of (Heenan was particularly confused). Rey took quite the beating in the bout, as Psicosis hit a brutal looking suicide dive, along with his beautiful top rope legdrop and a crazy senton splash from the top rope to the floor, but nothing could keep the smaller competitor down.

By the end, the announcers were largely impressed and the crowd was blown away. The two men shocked the wrestling world in their own right with a fantastic show opener.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
