After the experiment looking to make him the next Hulk Hogan had failed over in the WWF, Lex Luger rejoined the company with which he had made his name, WCW. According to Eric Bischoff on a WWE-produced 'Legends Of Wrestling Roundtable' (available on the WWE Network), he wasn't very interested in bringing Luger back in 1995, describing him as a 'cancer'. It was Scott Hall who would go to bat for Luger, and Bischoff had a change of heart. Shockingly, Lex would debut on the very first episode of Monday Nitro, challenging Hulk Hogan to put his money where his mouth was and let him wrestle for the WCW World Title. Fittingly, money was something Luger received a lot of during his stay with the company. A downside guarantee of $1.25 million enticed the man to switch over from the ailing WWF. According to Bischoff, Luger had actually wanted a lot more, but he managed to beat him down to that sum. It's unclear just how much the wrestler had asked WCW for, but during his 2nd run with the promotion he wasn't really a big draw, meaning there was little return on the investment regardless. Much like DDP, Luger was one of the few regularly wrestling by 2000 who was collecting a massive wage.
