10 Huge Stars Who Only Held The WWE Intercontinental Title Once

8. AJ Styles

At times it's easy to forget that AJ Styles only arrived in the WWE in 2016, and that for most of his career he was seen as the best wrestler to never go to Stamford.

For once, WWE knew what they had when an indy darling rocked up and AJ Styles has achieved a phenomenal (ahem) amount of time in his half decade with the company. Two WWE Championship reigns were achieved, one for over a year, before AJ Styles won a title that was once built for performers like him.

Despite the accolades, it feels as if AJ Styles should have had more runs with the belt, which he won in the culmination of an excellent tournament and a dream feud with Daniel Bryan in 2020 after Sami Zayn vacated the belt. It could be because he has held the WWE United States Championship on three occasions. Or it could be that AJ Styles and the Intercontinental Championship fit together like one of his snazzy gloves.

Having recently dropped the RAW Tag Titles to RK-Bro, his tandem with the giant Omos still has a little steam to run through. But it's not a big stretch to think Styles could soon end up back in the division he seems tailor made to be the figure head for.
