10 HUGE Wrestling Moments That Must Happen By 2022

1. A Wrestler Few Heard Of Before AEW Launched Wins The AEW World Title

This would be the ultimate marker of the company's progression.

In early 2019, many wrestling fans had not heard of or seen much from MJF, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin or Sammy Guevara. All four have emerged as exceptional breakthrough acts. MJF and Allin in particular have drawn some of Dynamite's most watched-ever quarter hours. There's nothing remotely bad about AEW recruiting WWE acts. There's no such f*cking thing as a 'WWE act' for starters. Hulk Hogan is an 'AWA act'. Miro, Malakai Black, FTR; etc.: they are incredible workers with untapped potential.

Why wouldn't AEW sign great talents and book them better than the competition to prove that the product is better than the competition?

But strapping up a 'homegrown' talent - in addition being good business in itself - would send a message to every aspiring pro wrestler with a shred of realistic ambition.

Of course, this has already happened with Dr. Britt Baker - but she wasn't challenged by a plethora of big star names known to the wider audience before AEW's formation. She is a major credit to the company's star-making process, but MJF winning the World Title is another matter. It would not be a mere flex on the cry-laugh emoji crowd that would find something else to pretend to complain about.

It would act as proof that the paradigm really has shifted.
