10 Huge Wrestling Moments That Played Out To Silence
7. The Shockmaster's WCW Debut
Is Fred Ottman turning up in WCW as the Shockmaster a huge wrestling moment? For those who love moments that go down in infamy, it sure was.
Don't get it wrong, The Shockmaster's WCW debut took place in a packed studio and with a passionate introduction from the biggest babyface in the company, Sting. But it was Ottman's spluttering, car crash entrance that was greeted by the most awkward of silences.
At this most facepalming of times, the only audible noises were the confused, aghast wrestlers present to witness this disaster from merely a few yards away.
Most notably, the unmistakable thick northern accent of Davey Boy Smith best summed up what audiences had seen, as he spouted, "he fell flat on his f**king arse!" That was in addition to a fun "I told ya!" from Ric Flair and some shocked ramblings from Sid Vicious.
For poor Fred Ottman, his WCW career was already in the doldrums before it could ever get going. Left with no choice, Ottman would drop the sparkly Stormtrooper helmet shortly after this. In a silver lining for the former Tugboat and Typhoon, Ottman would later have the opportunity to make the most of this calamitous moment by poking fun at the doomed gimmick during convention appearances and with his own merchandise.
