10 Indie Stars Who Were Supposed To Be The Next Big Thing

9. Scoot Andrews

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gge36jgaHM The 'Black Nature Boy' Scoot Andrews was a different type of wrestler than the ones you could usually find filling up the card on indie shows in the early 2000s. He eschewed high-flying, stunts and high spots in favour of traditional, more technical mat wrestling and suplexes. Andrews, who debuted in 1994, wrestled all over the country and developed into a technically sound, if unspectacular, worker. It also helped that he kept himself in better shape than a lot of his indie brethren and sported a solid physique. Unfortunately, he was a little on the short side, something which no doubt held him back from getting a WWE contract. He may not have been offered a WWE contract, but he did work for the company on numerous occasions, wrestling in dark matches and on weekend shows Jakked, Velocity and Sunday Night Heat. He was definitely on WWE's radar but his height, coupled with his 'ROH guy' label meant that he never got a real shot. Still, for a time people were raving about his work and he was considered one of the better wrestlers on the independent scene. Andrews retired in 2005 but has wrestled on occasion since then.
