10 Japanese Wrestlers Who Were Totally Wasted In America

2. Jushin Liger

Jushin Liger has popped up in America on more than one occasion in his career, making appearances in everything from WCW to NXT. Yet, none of these companies have captured the true legend of Jushin Thunder Liger.

By which we don't mean Liger never had a good match. In WCW, he faced off against the likes of Rey Mysterio Jr. and Brian Pillman and even held the Light Heavyweight Championship between 1991 and 1992. However, no big American promotion (ROH have always treated him fairly well) has truly got the best out of Liger. In their hands, he's a gimmick and not the legend that anyone who has watched him regularly in Japan knows he is.

What makes Jushin Liger incredible is his aura. He walks out to the ring and even though you can’t see a single shred of flesh his charisma shines through that mask and bodysuit. In WCW, TNA, and even in that one-off match in NXT, that’s never been clear. He’s been a unique attraction, but never a Thunder God.
