8. Bam Bam Bigelow Vs. Lawrence Taylor

When former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor attended the 1995 Royal Rumble, it appeared to be just another of those celebrity fan appearance that the WWE loves to draw attention to.

But after Bam Bam Bigelow and his partner Tatanka were beaten in their Tag Team Championship bout, matters got a little out of hand.

Bam Bam clearly didn’t take his defeat well, remaining at ringside after the match to give various members of the audience a piece of his frustrated mind. Soon, his tirade reached Taylor, who was sat giggling in the front row. Further words ensued before Taylor tried to calm the situation by offering a friendly handshake, but Bam Bam shockingly responded by shoving him to the ground.

What made this one so great is that Vince McMahon, on commentary, had suggested we were supposed to cut to a backstage segment, but that was cancelled in light of the Bam Bam vs. Taylor interaction. That, plus Taylor’s excellent acting, made the whole thing feel very real.

Ultimately leading to a WrestleMania showdown, it soon became apparent this was staged, but its perfect execution made it something of a pre-cursor to future celebrity angles.
