10 Jaw-Dropping Times WWE Blurred The Lines
6. The Radicalz Debut
During the Invasion storyline of 2001, when WCW guys started
appearing on WWE programming, it wasn’t really all that believable. Everyone
knew that Vince McMahon had purchased the competition, so it’s not like these
guys were showing up of their own volition.
Just over a year prior though, the case had been rather different. WCW was still very much in operation, so it was a massive surprise when four of their wrestlers featured on an episode of Raw.
Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Benoit—otherwise known as the Radicalz—were seemingly attending the show as fans. Their spot in the front row made them sitting ducks for Road Dogg, who took a swipe at Benoit, resulting in the quartet hopping the barricade and laying a major beating on their assailant and his partner Billy Gunn.
The realism was aided by the fact that just a fortnight earlier, Benoit had been competing for, and winning, the WCW Championship at their Souled Out event.
Sauntering back to the locker room kind of killed the
illusion a bit, but for a moment at least this had really seemed like the WCW guys
were taking over.
