10 John Cena Matches You Should Watch Again

6. Vs Bobby Lashley - Great American Bash 2007

Built as a Hogan/Warrior-esque clash of the titans, John Cena and Bobby Lashley's summer 2007 blockbuster has been lost in time due to the tumultuous year the company would experience after it, and Lashley's acrimonious 2008 exit from the company.

As rapidly as he'd developed, Lashley was still in need of a headline match that justified the monster push WWE had given him from late 2006.

Ironically, there seemed the growing possibility he would experience an identical backlash to the one Cena suffered in 2005 (and Roman Reigns did in 2014).

Over-delivering on all expectations, the two had a hard-hitting and dramatic big man match, highlighting Bobby's underrated ground game and Cena's often-abandoned skills fighting from underneath that he would later show with great effect against Brock Lesnar.

Unable to finish his opponent off with the fiercely protected FU nor his equally definitive STFU (maybe changing those names really was for the best...), Cena debuted a modified version of his top-rope Attitude Adjustment to finally despatch 'The Real Deal'.

Defeat on the night didn't harm Lashley (though injuries and behind-the-scenes turmoil would unintentionally make this somewhat of a swansong for him in WWE) and Cena enhanced his legacy as the company's most dependable top-liner in victory.
