10 Longest Matches In WWE History

5. Bob Backlund (C) Vs Greg Valentine - WWE Title - WWWF MSG Show Feb 19th 1979 (60 Minutes)

Backlund took on all comers in his late seventies / early 80's heyday. One such match was against Greg Valentine at Madison Square Garden in 1979. Valentine was an accomplished in-ring talent and well travelled, meaning that this match held some real significance for the fans. They watched as both men battled to a sixty minute time limit draw. Backlund retained his title and figure headed the early 80's WWF before Vince McMahon Jnr's revolution fully took hold. The time limit draw was a common booking tactic when it came to his matches, as it always allowed for both wrestlers to avoid looking bad. Both Backlund and Valentine are now in the WWE Hall Of Fame.
