10 Losses That Must Happen At WWE SummerSlam 2016
7. The New Day
The New Day’s currently run as WWE Tag Team Champions currently sits at 358 days. Though this doesn’t match Demolition’s 478-day run as World Tag Team Champions back in the ‘80s, WWE continue promoting them as the longest-reigning tag champions of all-time, and it’s easy to see why.
The stable has worked wonders for Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods. All three endured up-and-down singles careers in WWE, and while Kofi in-particular has a strong set of career highlights, The New Day has been the best thing to happen to all three of them. Three once-forgotten midcarders have become one of WWE’s best supported acts, and the gimmick shows little signs of growing stale.
With all that said, there’s nothing more for The New Day to do atop the tag division. They’ve held the belts for close to a year and handily defeated everyone who’s been thrown at them. While beating Gallows & Anderson would be a significant feather in their cap, the challengers need the win more than the champions, and becoming Tag Champs could cement them as Raw’s most ferocious heel faction.
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Gallows & Anderson, who’ve been reduced to wearing lab coats and delivering testicle jokes since entering The New Day feud. They need a big win to cement their credibility, and while they’ve looked good in their various beatdown segs, Gallows & Anderson need to start getting it done in the ring.
What better way to do that than by defeating the best team that WWE has seen in years?
