10 Major Signings That WWE Totally Wasted

2. Diamond Dallas Page

Sting Survivor Series

In the absence of Sting, Hulk Hogan, et al, Diamond Dallas Page and Booker T were the two biggest WCW names to join WWE for the Invasion angle. The latter would go on to have a relatively profitable run with the sport's biggest promotion, but the former? Not so much.

DDP never stood a chance with his new company. While jumping into an immediate feud with The Undertaker sounds great on paper, the angle wound up burying him with a dreadful stalker gimmick. His reveal as 'Taker's wife Sara's pursuer was shocking, but quickly became a laughing stock, with his character's perversions descending into borderline comedy at times, despite the angle's disturbing start.

Not only was Page buried by his problematic gimmick, but he was treated like dirt between the ropes too. Though such an angle warrants a big heel comeuppance moment at the end, there was no need for him to be pinned by Sara in singles competition. It was impossible to take him seriously after that, and while DDP eventually won the European Championship, he was out of the company three months later.
