10 Major WWF Stars (That WCW Stupidly Let Go)

2. Triple H

If you have checked any of Triple H's early WCW matches out, you'll know that even at a young age he was already great in the ring. In fact, some of his movement and execution were first rate. So why did WCW allow him to leave in 1995? The simple explanation is that they just didn't see the potential in the man known as Terra Ryzing. They overlooked his ring work and later clad him as Jean Paul Levesque, a pompous 18th century type aristocrat character. Levesque wasn't happy with this and left in January 1995 after WCW admitted they had no plans for him as a singles star. The southern based company had just overlooked the man who would go on to become the most powerful pro wrestler of all time. Funnily enough, the WWF at first pretty much put him on the same spot he'd been in with WCW. As Hunter Hearst Helmsley he was basically doing the same gimmick. To his credit he sticked it out and made his role a success. He became one of the finest all round talents going, proficient on the microphone and effective in the ring. By the year 2000 he was widely considered the best pro wrestler in the industry, going on to win multiple championships and becoming a key leader backstage. WCW sure could have used his talent, both as a wrestler, and as a backstage leader.
