The McMahon-Helmsley era was a major storyline during the Attitude Era, but the couples onscreen marriage dissolved in 2002 a little more than a year before they were married in real life in October 2003. Although they would appear on camera together several times during the next five-plus years, their real marriage was never acknowledged until the build-up to WrestleMania XXV, when it suddenly was front-and-center as part of the Triple Hs feud with Randy Orton. Since then, Triple H and Stephanie have gone on to become the ultimate onscreen power couple, with Hunter fully embracing his corporate position within WWE and incorporating it into his storyline persona.
