Divas appearing in gimmick matches is something we've all seen before. From Playboy Pillow fights to cage matches, there's plenty of match rules and stipulations that have been implemented in women's matches over the years. Part of being a WWE Diva is maintaining an air of femininity and desirability in order to appeal to WWE's largest audience share, men. Although putting women in violent matches goes against that principle, they also have to balance that with being recognised as athletic, competitive, tough, and to a degree, violent. There have been times when divas have successfully tackled match types usually reserved for the men. Melina and Beth Phoenix once took part in a memorable I Quit match, Trish Stratus and Victoria had a legendary hardcore match, and a few years ago Extreme Rules hosted the first ever divas tables match. Given the right talent, the women of WWE can pull off gimmick matches that previously might have been unimaginable. While an all-female Elimination Chamber match might not ever happen, there's matches like Last Man Standing, Hell in a Cell and TLC matches that the women have yet to explore.
