6. "The Yard"

The Undertaker has genuine beef with Roman Reigns – it’s arguably one of the few things most wrestling fans have in common with the Deadman. But why has their feud been twisted into a battle for ‘Roman’s Yard?’

Sometimes, it seems like Michael Cole doesn’t realise that Roman Reigns isn’t actually a big dog. That’s where all this has stemmed from – The Big Dog has now become Reigns’s most commonly uttered pseudonym, and the RAW commentary team won’t stop prattling on about how the WWE is “his yard”, and that The Undertaker wants “his yard back.” At its core, this feud is about the fact that The Undertaker was unceremoniously chucked out of the Royal Rumble by Roman, but it feels as though the focus has been taken away from that.

WWE appears to be presenting a ‘passing of the torch scenario’, whereby The Undertaker will hang up his boots by putting over ‘The Big Dog’. This in itself is a bizarre decision for a company that seems to want Roman to be a lovable hero.

By toppling (or even just picking a fight with) one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time, Roman’s chances as an outright babyface are themselves being buried alive.
