10 Mistakes WWE Has Made With WrestleMania 33

7. Let's Go Cena

There's something odd about the pairing of John Cena and Nikki Bella. Despite being a couple in real life, they have a surprising lack of on-screen chemistry, especially when compared with their WrestleMania opponents The Miz and Maryse.

Cena’s attitude throughout this feud has been uncharacteristically aloof too. Unlike his rivalry with AJ Styles, which saw Cena cut some classic fiery promos, The Face that Runs the Place has approached his confrontations with The A-Lister with a general veneer of disinterest. Nikki Bella has been getting fired up and hurling the ‘B-word’ at Maryse, while The Miz and Maryse have been cutting scathing promos on Cena and Nikki on Talking Smack. But John Cena just seems to be ‘involved’, and that’s about it.

This match feels like a huge step down for both Miz and Cena, the latter of whom put on many a Match of the Year candidate in the last eight months, and the former of whom played a vital role in restoring the Intercontinental Title to its former glory.

The intergender angle just has very little heat, and has a lot less intrigue behind it than even The Miz’s mini-feud with Ambrose and Renee Young.
