10 Moments That Literally Stopped WCW Matches
4. Double J Lies Down
When looking at the rough final two years of WCW, one of the many incidents to have gone down in infamy is the sham Hulk Hogan vs. Jeff Jarrett bout at Bash at the Beach 2000.
If we're to believe the oft-questionable words of Hogan and Vince Russo, the plan here was for Double J to literally lie down for Hollywood and lose the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. There, a worked shoot promo would play out between Hulk and Russo, with Booker T then winning the WCW World Title from Jarrett later that night.
In reality, the words between Hogan and Russo got a little too real for the Hulkster and he legitimately walk out on WCW, never to return.
While Jarrett lying down was all seemingly part of the plan here, it still brought a halt to the match. As the Chosen One hit the mat, a perplexed Hogan looked to the crowd and looked to Russo before placing a foot on Jarrett to secure the pinfall.
This all took place at a time when WCW - well, Vince Russo - decided to blur the lines between fiction and reality, with the company foolishly making mention of creative control and predetermined finishes on their weekly programming.
