Two of the four most popular superstars in WWE history. (Stone Cold Steve Austin & Hulk Hogan being the others, obviously.) This match was booked and made public to the WWE Universe a full year before it was scheduled to take place. How could anything else top it in the anticipation stakes? No other match in WWE history has been afforded so much time to build. After The Rock, who was host, cost John Cena the WWE Championship in his match against The Miz at Mania 27, the leader of the Cenation challenged The Great One to a match at the following Mania event. This made it the first, and only match in WWE history to be booked and made public a year ahead of schedule. This meant the WWE Universe had a full year to ponder who would win. A full year to pick their side. A full year to wait for the damn thing to happen. The hype and hyperbole surrounding this match quite literally threatened to boil over by the time Sun Life Stadium opened its doors to the attending fans. It was also billed as once in a lifetime which also got it over to no end. We all know this was a lie, however, as the same match took place at Mania 29. This doesn't get away from the fact that this was still the most hyped match in WrestleMania history. Merely down to the size of the men involved and the masses of time it was given to build compared to your standard rivalry.
