3. Triple H

Triple H earns a lot of ire from wrestling fans for his alleged ‘burial’ of talent, or for allowing his ego to get in the way of storylines. But nobody can claim he isn’t one of the toughest WWE Superstars of the last few decades.

The man has continued to wrestle matches long after it was time to throw in the towel, competing with career-threatening injuries purely so the fans could go home happy. In 2001, Triple H tore his quad completely off the bone, an incredibly serious injury that eventually required surgery. Despite this, he continued to wrestle his match against Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, and even allowed Y2J to apply the Walls of Jericho. You know, just that move that literally bends your quadriceps out of place.

Another instance of Hunter Hearst Heroism includes wrestling an Elimination Chamber match after suffering a damaged oesophagus due to a botched RVD frogsplash. Van Dam came down from one of the Chamber pods, but his knee landed across Triple H’s throat. Never mind the fact that people legitimately die from being hit in the throat with less force, Triple H managed to stay in the match, being eliminated last by a victorious Shawn Michaels.
