That might be his catchphrase, and Kurt might have turned his legitimate
amateur wrestling background into a highly successful pro-wrestling gimmick,
but that doesn’t make his accomplishments any less impressive.
The soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer has been voted the ‘Greatest Shoot Wrestler Ever’ by USA Wrestling, is a two-time NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight Champion, and is one of four men to achieve the amateur wrestling Grand Slam.
Aside from these accolades, Kurt is also known for his highly publicized backstage fights during his full-time pro wrestling tenure, as well as his ability to withstand a great deal of legitimate pain when most other men would have thrown in the towel. He’s wrestled Shane McMahon with a broken tailbone, wrestled Brock Lesnar with a re-injured neck, beat Eddie Guerrero in a backstage scuffle, and floored Lesnar once again in a shoot amateur wrestling match, despite Brock having a significant height, weight and youth advantage over Angle.
After losing his fight to Angle, a furious Eddie Guerrero was asked by JBL: “He’s an Olympic Gold Medalist, what were you thinking?” to which Eddie replied “I’m dumb as f**k.”
