Y'know what's worse than bad? BORING.

Think back to some of the worst moments in pro wrestling history. The Gobbledygooker? Papa Shango making The Ultimate Warrior spew up goo? Vince McMahon's look of sheer horror when Hornswoggle was revealed as his erm...illegitimate son? Sure, horrible TV moments, but they weren't dull.

Boring is a death knell for characters in wrestling, but it isn't always the actual worker's fault. No, bad creative or a total lack of chemistry between two pros can also make for lifeless telly. It's also worth pointing out that some of the picks here will not go down well with everybody - that's fine, everyone has their own choices.

These were the wrestlers in WWE and AEW that almost sent this writer to sleep in 2022 though. Again, that doesn't mean they're doomed to fail in 2023 or beyond. It just means that their January-December run this year was either absolutely crap or very uninspiring to watch play out. Or both.

Surely a collection of talent like this is capable of more? Fingers crossed things do get better from January 2023 onwards.

10. Ronda Rousey

Starting out with a biggie.

Ronda Rousey was a lot of things during her first WWE run, but "boring" was never really one of them. 2022 hasn't been kind to the ex-UFC mauler though; Ronda has won the Royal Rumble and reigned supreme as SmackDown Women's Champ, but her matches can be terribly flat.

Worse, Rousey on the mic is a shaky, under-confident mess when she's supposed to be composed, self-assured and dominant. Sure, it's unfair to slag someone off because promos aren't a core strength, but WWE need to realise that consistently booking Ronda into a corner on the mic is...a bit thick.

Matches vs. Natayla, Liv Morgan, Shotzi and others have been bang average this year. In fact, Charlotte Flair is arguably the only one who has been able to pull some sort of excitement from Rousey. She's a big star, yes, but Ronda still feels like someone playing pro wrestler rather than being one.
