A great finisher needs to fulfil certain criteria. It should be impressive to watch, believable in its potential to inflict pain, easily reversible or avoidable, and executable from a variety of different positions. The End of Days ticks all of these boxes, and is one of the most aptly named manoeuvres in sports entertainment.

Baron Corbin can hit The End of Days from almost every lock up or angle imaginable, and it always spells the end of the match. Not one person has kicked out of the move since Corbin’s time in NXT and WWE, and if Corbin loses, that’s because he hasn’t hit it.

It helps that The End of Days such a believable move – Corbin can get so much torque and delay on his reverse STO, that it looks genuinely whiplash-inducing. It remains to be seen whether anyone will kick out of the End of Days. Such shocking moments can be entertaining, but they can also come at the expense of a wrestler’s star power, particularly when a large part of that power came down to their finisher. Just ask Chris Masters what that feels like...
