10 Most Disappointing Wrestlers Of 2016

6. Paige

Paige made one of the most memorable debuts in recent WWE history when she arrived to snatch AJ Lee’s Divas Championship a few years ago, but it’s been all downhill since then. Neither of her title reigns were particularly memorable, she was made to look increasingly weak between the ropes, and slowly fell down the pecking order while others rose to prominence.

The Women’s Revolution should have sparked her rival, but it accomplished quite the opposite. Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch took the spotlight, and while Paige was clearly one of WWE’s best female wrestlers, her slump continued. Her late-2015 title feud with Charlotte was particularly disastrous: Paige looked extremely uncomfortable with her character direction, particularly when she was made to insult Charlotte’s deceased brother, and she has barely been featured since.

Paige hasn’t been seen since June. Two Wellness Policy violations and an ongoing neck injury have sent her to the scrapheap, and she was recently removed from Raw’s opening montage. While her peers are taking women’s wrestling to stunning new heights, Paige is languishing. There’s every possibility she returns to revive her career in 2017, but it’s just as likely that she completely falls out of the company.
