10 Most Disappointing WWE Matches Of 2016 (So Far)

1. Dean Ambrose Vs. Brock Lesnar - WWE WrestleMania 32

WWE have painted themselves into a corner with the Suplex City-model Brock Lesnar. The act no longer sparkles, but why in kayfabe would 'The Beast' deviate from what is a simple, devastating, and impossible-to-defend approach? The act was stunning when it debuted - his demolition of John Cena was wonderful and breath-taking for many long-time fans to behold - but the returns are fast diminishing.

This match followed the now-typical Lesnar layout, largely playing out to audience indifference. Some of the action was spirited in places, and Ambrose is always game for absorbing punishment, but the match time was severely misjudged. Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon was almost triple the length, when it only needed to fulfil one objective.

Multiple objectives were required here; Lesnar, fading critically, could have done with adding something new to his game. Ambrose, main event outlier, needed, if not the win, protection in the form of a heroic defeat. At 12:50, he ate the pin far, far too easily. CM Punk at SummerSlam '13 this was not - and many were calling for a herculean losing effort akin to Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13.

Ambrose may well be riding high as WWE World Heavyweight Champion - but how much stronger would he seem if he had bested the Beast? Somebody has got to at some point, else why has he been built up to such an incredible extent? If not your future champion, then who?
