10 Most Divisive Figures In Wrestling History

2. Brock Lesnar

Prosecution:

Has, since 2014, masterminded the architecture of Suplex City - the domiciles in which range from grand masterpiece mansions to colourless caravans. The first match heralding the evolution of the character, the main event of SummerSlam 2014, was a shocking departure from the established main event norm and the risk-free approach to the John Cena character. Lesnar bounced him around the ring like a rag doll. For those who lived through 2011, it was beautiful. From there, Lesnar provided as much tedium and repetition as entertainment. His WrestleMania 32 match with Dean Ambrose was a particularly galling example of the worst of the Beast; he phoned in a cliche of a Brock Lesnar match because UFC turned his head. What are we paying for, exactly? He also sort of just stands there and grins on RAW as Paul Heyman does all the work and he cashes stupid cheques, which can get similarly boring. Doesn't care about the industry, which too often translates to meh in-ring performance.

Defence:

The best of the Beast is a spectacle unlike anything else in wrestling - including my beloved New Japan Pro Wrestling. He exudes as much authenticity and presence as sweat, which is to say a bucketload.

Author Verdict:

It depends entirely on which Brock Lesnar shows up - but that amount of money should guarantee consistency at the very least. Would WWE be that much worse off without him?
