Everyone will have their own opinion, but has there been a more dominant modern-day women's title reign than Asuka's famous run as NXT Women's Champion? The Empress of Tomorrow was very much the commanding women of the day, standing on top of the NXT mountain for 522 days between April 2016 and August 2017. She wasn't even beaten for the title, eventually relinquishing it due to injury.

Over the course of those 16 months, Asuka defeated a whole host of different challenges. She vanquished fan-favourite Bayley for the belt before overcoming the former champion, Nia Jax, Mickie James, The IIconics, Nikki Cross, Ember Moon and others. She came close to losing on a number of occasions but always found a way to win, establishing herself as one of the great dominant champions of modern WWE history.

Asuka has gone on to win both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships as well, although she hasn't been anywhere near as dominant as she was in NXT. These are early days in her reign on the flagship show though, so time tells on that front. Will she go on to be as dominant as RAW Women's Champion as she was as NXT Women's Champion? One can only hope.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
